Evaluation of Wood Drying Benchmarks
According to the drying quality and drying time of the dried wood, the performance of the drying standard can be evaluated, and the following three indicators are used to evaluate the use effect of the drying standard.
Efficiency: The length of the drying duration is used as the evaluation standard. Use two different benchmarks to dry the same wood in the same drying room to obtain the ratio of the drying duration of the two drying benchmarks. Under the same quality standard, the shorter the duration, the higher the efficiency.
Safety: To ensure that the wood does not have drying defects, it is expressed by the ratio of the actual moisture content gradient in the wood during the drying process to the moisture content gradient that is so large that the stress is large enough to cause wood defects. The smaller the ratio, the better the safety.
Hardness: Under certain medium conditions, the degree of water evaporation in wood. When the wood species, specifications and dryer performance are the same, the drying standard with the large temperature difference between the dry and wet bulbs and the fast air velocity is the hard standard; otherwise, it is the soft standard. The same drying reference is a soft reference for a certain species or size of sawn timber, and may be a hard reference for another size or several types of sawn timber
